The HP StorageWorks MSL5030 Tape Library is an automated mid-range backup and restore solution featuring 30 cartridge slots in a 5U space with a native capacity of 3.0 TB with one or two HP StorageWorks LTO Ultrium 230 tape drives. It is scalable to up to eight units using various Pass-Thru-Mechanism (PTM) components in a rackmount configuration to provide a maximum of 48TB (2:1 compression) of data backup capacity. The HP StorageWorks MSL5030 Tape Library uses hot pluggable drive carriers, allowing drive replacement without interrupting backup and restore functions. The HP MSL5030 is easily managed through an intuitive GUI control panel and integrated remote web management. Monitoring and management functions include library and drive status, moving media, load/unload tape drives, access to diagnostics, library configuration, library statistics, inventory check, and security settings.

- Multi-unit modular scalability – any combination of MSL5030s and MSL5060s up to 40U high
