How ISC-CHS™ for SL8500 works:

  1. Connect a Windows-based personal computer (PC) to the tape library. Any network computer in your data center can be used. ISC Group can also provide a specially designed network communication box.
  2. Install the ISC-CHS™ software on the PC. Choose the desired alarm settings and notification contacts (e.g. by email and/or text message).
  3. Connect the computer to the internet via your network or a dedicated phone line.
  4. Start monitoring the Sun StorageTek SL8500 tape library 24/7, maintenance free. ISC-CHS™ watches for messages from the unit’s onboard diagnostics monitor and generates daily messages to ISC servers to confirm the system is running optimally. If the computer fails to communicate with ISC servers at any time, the ISC Support Team will contact the system’s service provider right away.
  5. If an error message is generated, ISC-CHS™ automatically sends an alarm message to ISC servers (and other contacts as requested) to allow an ISC support engineer to start troubleshooting the tape library immediately. When needed, ISC will dispatch a field engineer to the site and repair/replace any malfunctioning parts.
